Expedition diary: July 18, 2021
The day came when we had to say goodbye. We finished the last things, packed up for the road and connected for the last expedition Zoom.
Our entire working group on both sides of the screen was visibly tired, and yet we did not want these days and this journey to end. But it was necessary to give feedback and agree on how we will continue to work with the collected materials, thoughts and feelings.
Of course, not everything turned out as we planned. And we guessed that our main event Shtetlfolkfest was under big question. At that moment, we didn’t know for sure if we would ever meet for real. But even now, looking at our joint photos and videos, taken in different conditions, in different towns, with different people and in different moods, but at the same time and on the same wavelength, we can catch this vibe and realize that we still managed to find ourselves on those hot July days of 2021 somewhere in one dimension. In the reality that actually still exists and to which we approached through our striving to touch the past and “see by touching” our little old shtetl.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Shtetlfest expedition, participated, helped organize, supported, followed our streams and online meetings, liked photos, wrote comments and stayed in touch with us no matter what.
