400-year-old Catholic church of Zembin. Was here.

The first photo is a screenshot from a short video that our group managed to shoot a minute before it started raining in July 2021. From this side, you can clearly see that the building is holding together. Although it has been known for a long time that his condition is critical.

The following pictures (April 2022) show the right part of the pediment that has collapsed.

Now the upper part with the cross, the sculpture of the Virgin Mary and the storks no longer exists. It has been dismantled for the safety of the residents whose houses are near the church.

The Mother of God and the cross were removed from the pediment and, according to official statements, placed in the local museum. But there are photo facts (from other Internet resources) where it can be seen that the Virgin Mary was removed… let’s say, in pieces.

In 2010, when the Barysaw Executive Committee planned to demolish the building, the Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments managed to save it. Next to the building, there is no less valuable old cemetery. In 2013, the Society’s volunteers beautified this place of memory, raised the fallen tombstones, and cleared the site. Some of the burials here date back to the first half of the 19th century, but there are also earlier ones.

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zembin traces (or traced?) its history since 1640. This is an architectural monument. For now, still the monument. In the near future, it may become a place where an architectural monument once stood.
