A mythological phenomenon in Zembin – the house of the poet Izi Kharik.
The first three colored photos were taken by Paviel Hanchar in the summer of 2021 during our expedition, and the next four colored, during an additional trip to Zembin.
Local historians say that Izi Kharik’s house stood next to a shop (now closed), near the main (former market) square. We add archival photos from the belisrael.info website – the house is still standing here. But even we now, looking at these two black-and-white photos taken at different times, have doubts whether this is the same house… By the way, the materials of Wolf Rubinchyk’s lecture on the fate and work of Izi Kharik are published on the website.
But there is another version about the house, voiced and reasoned by local residents: “Izi Kharik’s was named that for a reason: because their house was located there”.
There is an opinion that if there was not only one Kharik in Zembin, then there were definitely several houses.
