Sketches from Izabielin
Izabielin was renamed from the village of Petukhova by the then owner, Fleming, in honor of his daughter. It takes some effort to understand the essence of this place and to look behind the exterior unattractiveness of an agrotown to see the cute image of the old town where we planned to organize our festival. Also, to move away from the central intersection with the “Memorial Square of the Holy War”, which is located in the very center, at least a little to the neighboring streets and yards. A school (and a giant poster of the daughter of the former owner of Izabielin), a Catholic church, a shop and a synagogue, three cemeteries in the middle of the fields – including the Lutheran and Jewish ones. Pay close attention to the little things if you want to delve into details and understand what Izabielin is breathing today and what it is hiding from the recent past.
